There are many stores to choose from in and around Athens. When trying to get settled and setting up a new home, many people visit thrift stores like Goodwill (East Athens), Goodwill (West Athens), or America's Thrift Store. These stores sell used furniture, clothes and household items.

Another way to find inexpensive, used items is on Craigslist. Remember to carefully follow these rules for staying safe!

Twice a year there is a consignment sale of used childrens' things (clothes, car seats, baby beds, toys, shoes, etc.). The name of this event is Kindermarket. It is usually held one weekend in the spring and again in the fall.

Another kids' consignment sale is the Cornerstone Consignment Sale.

A Child's Closet is another used kids' clothing/shoes shop in the nearby town of Watkinsville.

Many people shop at Aldi and find that the produce is especially affordable there. You will need to "rent" a shopping cart by inserting a quarter into the shopping cart handle. You will also need to bring your own bags. Of course, Walmart is a popular place to shop.
